The concept

WannaWork is a startup that aims to provide innovative solutions for temporary job seekers. The company's primary focus is on the short-term/part-time job market.

The goal

...is to build a trust-based system and to give a push for application to the young generation who want to work.

Who are we?

the team contains a couple of well-qualified managers and university students. The company has got its first investment of 50.000 euros from one of the largest venture capital investors in Hungary, Europe

Research

Surveys

After we defined the project’s scope, we started to explore potential User journeys. We identified the main focus points that we considered to be uncertain, and based on our initial research we launched a survey across universities.

We listed the primary factors of what students are looking for when they apply for a job. They had to complete a one-choice questionnaire and after that a multiple-choice questionnaire. After they finished they got the opportunity to write down in 1000 characters how they felt about their banking platform. This made it easier to scale the responses.

By processing the answers, we had a general idea of how we wanted to approach and to correct the initial problems that we defined before.

We continued user testing throughout the entire process of building the user interface. In case we were stuck we interviewed or tested functions repeatedly.

Problems

We shortly realized that the concept needed to be modified or expanded multiple times.

It became clear that we should focus mainly on user-friendliness, reviews, and evaluations. We saw that emphasizing these creates a huge competitive advantage. For example, we heard many times that student cooperatives don't have any rating system, which is why we have put so much emphasis on giving the power to the users to write feedback about their employer.

Research insights

Key research insights

we found some key issues, such as that most students don't have a portfolio or CV. Therefore we have developed the concept of the WannaWork CV which is a built inside feature to create a CV. It can be used at the end of our application process or it can be downloaded as our free "white label" giveaway

another important problem we found out was that the vast majority of people who have worked in a temporary job - most of the time - were not accurately informed about their job requirements

it also turned out that finding a job was not so easy for university students. 60% of them are not registered with student cooperatives (they charge entry fees are upon entry), where most student work appears

Wireframes

we wanted to simplify the application process so we set a maximum of 4 screens (or steps) from logging in to applying for a job

Final design

In-depth design decisions

we wanted to stand out from the typical "blue" job-searching platforms. To achieve this, we selected red as our dominant color after surveying to determine which design directions, color, and layout users preferred. The resulting brand and interface are playful yet professional, focusing on university students and job seekers

the final user interface design was planned to create an accessible, user-friendly, and recognizable interface. We used illustrations and 3D renders as part of the design to make the interface more visually appealing and engaging for users. By prioritizing accessibility and user-friendliness, we aimed to create a product that helps everyone to find their best job on the market

"...what is important is the environment and the people around you."
